I volunteer as a doctor and musician to end violence against girls and women.
As a doctor, I regularly volunteer at the Mädchenhaus Bonn.
Here girls from 7 to 17 years old find refuge who are exposed to sexual, physical or psychological violence.
I visit the facility on home visits once a week and am available on an emergency basis around the clock.
As a musician, I advocate for donations for the girls’ shelter with my multicultural music group Cayu.
Together we recently recorded an album, the proceeds of which go to the girls’ house.
My self-composed piece, “It’s Time,” is based on my experience as a physician treating women as victims of domestic violence.
It was produced as a short film together with Bonn ballet dancer Greta Bücker and was part of a series of events organized by UN-Women Germany in 2022 as well as part of an international campaign by the Zonta organization.
